Exporting Essential Facilities Error with CDMS v2.1.2

I just installed Hazus 2.1 with CDMS v2.1.2 which came included. I am getting an error when attempting to export essential facilities to a Geodatabase from CDMS. I can query the essential facilities, but when i click on the “Export to Geodatabase” button i get the following error:

“Error occurred while exporting the layer(s). Please try again. Could not load file or assembly ‘ESRI.ArcGIS.Geodatabase, Version=10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=8fc3cc631e44ad86’ or one of its dependencies. The located assembly’s manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040)”

I can export to Excel with no problem but was wondering if anyone else has experienced this. The statewide database is Illinois and i get the error regardless of whether i select Export currently selected layer or Export all layers.

My current specs are:
ArcGIS 10 SP2 (Though it was SP4 when Hazus was installed)
Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1
Microsoft .NET framework 4

Thanks!
-Brad

DATA UPDATES and DATA WAREHOUSE

The standard HAZUS-MH software package comes with a “data inventory disc”. When running the HAZUS software, the system calls for the data in that disc.

The data provided is broad and much of the information in current HAZUS is from the Census 2000 (data available for HAZUS 2.1). The latest CENSUS 2010 has not yet been incorporated.

HAZUS is complete to the extent that allows you to run a “LEVEL 1” analysis, which you will find it is very useful. However when going through a more demanding project and/or public, you may want to improve the quality of the data and customize it.

There are 2 ways to getting a more refined data and a more accurate result of the analysis in HAZUS.
1 - using the CDMS tool already integrated in the HAZUS software (http://www.fema.gov/plan/prevent/hazus/hz_cdms2.shtm )
2 - a script developed by programmers

The difference using these tools is the level of complexity and skills required by the person doing the customization and the speed to which the process for getting all updates in can be done.

Also CDMS is a tool that users of HAZUS can get training on and do it themselves. If the desired job is of large scale and therefore the option is for a “script process”, this will likely have to be contracted.

Delaware has very good data that can be brought into HAZUS, be it from transportation, agricultural, schools, environmental, economic or more.

The challenge is getting the understanding and help to do the updates and the commitment and resources available for this task.

Also, when the update of information is discussed, there is an interest to have access to the information. This is a DATA WAREHOUSE and DATA SHARING discussion.

The HAZUS software, analysis and reports are built in such way that it is a standardized process under FEMA. Many emergency managers may still not recognize that the plans and reports contracted out are the result of the use of HAZUS.

This forum has the objective of:
a) Discuss with the public and stakeholders HAZUS software, HAZUS inventory, DATA warehouse and DATA sharing to grow the understanding e help define data requirements based on the users perspective
b) Start the development of a strategy for implementation that will take care of data updates, data warehouse and data sharing
c) Help disseminate information about HAZUS and its benefits to the government, private organizations, academia and the public.

Please feel free to discuss this subject in writing so that we keep historical records and ideas can be shared among interest people.

Thank you!

New HAZUS-MH 2.1 Install and Use for new user

I am a new user to Hazus. I work in the GIS software primarily and have been asked to support our Emergency Management with learning new software like Hazus-MH 2.1. I want to know if there is a user community that has adopted this new version of Hazus and find out if anyone has had any experience working in the Flood module for riverine flooding.

I work in Arizona so the type of flooding is only from rivers overflowing their banks. Any comments about what you may have heard about the new version of Hazus or what you have personally experienced would be a benefit. Thank you, Brian

FIT Tool Errors and Crashing

I have been unsuccessfully trying to work with the FIT tool for weeks. The HAZUS Help Desk has used my data and run the tool without any difficulty. They have been unable to provide me with a solution. I have received the following errors, and ArcMap has been crashing constantly.

I am using ArcGIS 10 and HAZUS 2.0. I have tried 2 machines - one is Windows XP 32-bit and the other is Windows 7 32-bit.

Error in module: ToggleGraphicsVisibility
91—Object variable or With block variable not set

Run-Time Error ‘75’: Path/File Access Error

Run-Time Error ‘440’: Automation Error

I have tried the following:

1. Upgraded to ArcGIS 10 Service Pack 2 (per HAZUS Help Desk recommendation)
2. Using “V” shapes to define the upstream/downstream limits (per HAZUS Help Desk recommendation)
3. Clipping DEM to flood area polygon
4. Reinstalling ArcGIS and HAZUS
5. Storing data and mxds on my C drive
6. Storing data and mxds on the company network

Does anyone have any suggestions?

HAZUS Technical Assistance

Many of us know how tricky HAZUS can be. Please use this forum to discuss any technical issues, errors, problems etc. that you have with HAZUS. There are many experienced HAZUS users in the WAHUG, so utilitze them to troubleshoot your problem.

How can WAHUG help you with HAZUS data?

One of my main goals of the WAHUG is data coordination and sharing. It would be great to have a statewide building stock and essential facilities update for every county and have HAZUS runs completed for earthquake and flood for every community (where we have data that is). I hope that we can use the WAHUG as a way to do that together. I am trying to update the datasets I have, but that is by no means complete. Please use this forum to let all WAHUG members know what your community needs to be able to run HAZUS successfully! Maybe a WAHUG member already has updated data for your community. And if not we can work on building that data together. We can also work through any data issues or questions you may have. So feel free to type away and let us know how the WAHUG can help get you to the level 2 HAZUS analysis.

What would you like to get out of the WAHUG?

Since we have started the WAHUG again, it is a perfect time to identify what you would like to get out of the WAHUG and what tools, trainings, products, etc. you would like to come out of this group? Some of my ideas include data coordination, meaning updated GBS and essential facilities information, and earthquake and flood scenarios upgraded to HAZUS 2.0 and eventually 2.1. Other ideas include training. Training can either be technical and specific to HAZUS, or broad overviews that can be delivered to your community and citizens. I would also really like our work in the WAHUG to be showcased nationwide in conferences as well as publications. If you have a great project you have done why not submit a paper for it or present your work at a conference. I am also interested on ideas of including community officials on our calls and in our group without getting overly technical. Many of you on this group are involved in the GIS community; how do we spread the word of HAZUS to those other community officials? So those are just a few of my ideas. Would like to get everyone else’s thoughts. So please start chatting away! Your input will go a long a way in framing what the WAHUG can do and the direction we want to go.
