Forum Posting Rules

Please read this page before posting. These rules were created help you find solutions to your technical problems as quickly and effortlessly as possible. Following these rules will help this forum run better for you and for everyone.

(Posts in violation of these rules will be moved, cropped, or deleted.)

Before Starting a New Topic

1. Check the ADVANCED FORUM SEARCH Before Posting.
Especially as the forum becomes more popular, you may find that your question/problem has already been asked, discussed, and solved by other forum members. You can save yourself lots of time by searching for solutions that already exist. The Advanced Forum Search link can be found on any forum page, just below the regular search box.

2. Add to an Existing Topic on the Same Problem.
It is always better to post to an existing topic than to start a new one. If someone else has already started a topic on a problem that is similar to yours, post your version of the problem below theirs. This allows us to see if the same technical issues are affecting multiple people. If you find a solution to a problem, post it to an existing topic whenever possible.

3. Use Meaningful Titles.
Meaningful titles make it easier for users to search for solutions in the forums. The content of your topic should be clear from the title. Please be brief, yet specific enough so that readers will know if your topic will be of interest to them.

4. Be Clear and Detailed.
In general, the more relevant details that you include in your post, the easier it will be for others to help you. Be sure to include which version of HAZUS you are using (MR1, MR2, MR3, etc.) as well.

Closed Topics
Closed topics indicate that the topic has been solved. Once an acceptable solution has been found to a problem, the thread will be Closed, and no new posts will be allowed.

If you find that a solution posted in a closed topic does not work for you, or if you have found a solution that is better than the one stated, please start a new topic and link to the old thread in your post. The old topic will then be reopened, and your new post will be added to the existing thread.

General Posting Rules (aka. the Legal Boilerplate)
1. Be Respectful and Professional.
Professional courtesy and manners is the atmosphere in our forums. Insults, slurs or offensive language against anyone regarding their age, gender, ethnicity,  disability, race, religion, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, or nationality will not be tolerated. Do not post profanity or adult material, and do not link to inappropriate content. Do not submit posts or titles in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS, as this is equivalent to shouting.

2. Criticize ideas, not people.
No personal attacks, or anything that might violate someone’s personal privacy against their wishes. Flaming and flame baiting is not allowed.

3. Advertisements and Spam are Prohibited.
Commercial advertisements and spam are not allowed in posts. All phishing and other scams will be deleted as soon as they are detected. Promoting yourself or your website is fine, but it should be directly related to the topic of the thread.

4. Remain on Topic.
Keep topics in this forum related to HAZUS Technical Support. Please keep posts related to the thread that they are posted in. Posts that drift from the topic will be moved to an appropriate thread.

5. No Ranting.
The purpose of this forum is to aid others in the use of HAZUS, so please keep conversations constructive. An “I HATE HAZUS!” thread does not help others find a solution to their technical problems.

6. Please Read the TOS.
The USEHAZUS Terms of Service also apply to this forum.

Opinions expressed on these forums are the opinions of the posters, and USEHAZUS takes no responsibility for their actions. USEHAZUS does not imply toleration or endorsement of any message that is currently in public view. While we work hard to keep the boards clean, we may inadvertently miss something once in a while. We would greatly appreciate your help in bringing to our attention any posts that violate the Rules of Posting.
