Using HAZUS in Southern California?
Liz Wojdak, Senior GIS Analyst, Southern California Association of Governments and the SoCalHUG Leader sent an informal survey to the SoCalHUG membership and approximately 500 GIS analysts and emergency managers requesting information about their HAZUS use. The idea for the survey came from a training held at Cal Poly Pomona where training participants thought it would be helpful to know who in their region uses HAZUS and what type of projects they are using it for. The questions included were related to HAZUS training, conference participation and the Golden Guardian 2008 exercise. The survey is in the form of a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet and probably takes about ten minutes to complete. The SoCalHUG hopes that the answers to the informal survey will generate a clearer picture of who uses HAZUS in the region. They also hope to get specific data regarding who would like HAZUS training. To date over thirty surveys have been returned. If you would like to participate in the SoCalHUG HAZUS survey you can visit www.usehazus.com or contact mappergal@sbcglobal.net.
