News from Region I
- FEMA Hazard Mitigation Assistance Moves Beyond Mainland
- WARWICK, R.I. -- The town of New Shoreham (Block Island) escaped with little impact from the March 2010 floods, but the damage and debris left behind on the mainland served as a reminder to officials on the significance of preparing for the worst.
- Bay State Assistance Tops $100 Million
- PORTSMOUTH, N.H. -- As the recovery process from severe March and April flooding nears the five-month mark, disaster assistance has surpassed $100 million for aid to individuals, businesses and local communities in the seven Commonwealth counties of Essex, Bristol, Middlesex, Norfolk, Plymouth, Suffolk, and Worcester.
- Record Numbers Tap Into Mitigation Advice
- Portsmouth, N.H. Making repairs can be a drag. The only thing worse is making the same repairs for a second or third time. However, after the storms and flooding of March and April of this year, more than 145,000 Bay Staters took the opportunity to avail themselves of information that may help them break the dispiriting cycle of damage-repair-damage-repair.
