What We Do

Mission Statement for the Northeast Hazus Users Group (NEHUG)

Mission: Attract and engage a diverse group of regional stakeholders, including both users and consumers who are committed to collaborating for the integration and advancement of Hazus loss estimation software and results in the support of sustainable, disaster-resilient communities within FEMA Region 1 through the following activities:

• Implement FEMA’s Hazus loss-estimation software and results in all six FEMA Region I states,
• Provide training to our regional stakeholders to advance the level of analyses across the region, improve state hazard mitigation plans and aid in the efficient consumption of modeling results, 
• Develop partnerships with regional and national research laboratories, universities, corporations, utilities, nonprofit organizations, government agencies (federal, state, local & tribal), and other interested parties,
• Use results generated from Hazus pilot projects for mitigation planning to meet the requirements of mandatory Disaster Mitigation Act (DMA) 2000 mitigation plan development,
• Organize the NEHUG to use Hazus and share results from scenario exercises and response situations, and
• Share project successes regionally, nationally and internationally.

First $1 Million in Federal Assistance Provided to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for January Blizzard

BOURNE, MA – State and federal officials announce the first $1 million in federal assistance has been delivered to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to help cover the costs of the severe winter storm, snowstorm and flooding on January 26-28, 2015.

President Declares Disaster for Vermont

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency announced that federal disaster aid has been made available to the State of Vermont to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the area affected by a severe storm and flooding on June 9, 2015.
