What We Do

Mission Statement for the Northeast Hazus Users Group (NEHUG)

Mission: Attract and engage a diverse group of regional stakeholders, including both users and consumers who are committed to collaborating for the integration and advancement of Hazus loss estimation software and results in the support of sustainable, disaster-resilient communities within FEMA Region 1 through the following activities:

• Implement FEMA’s Hazus loss-estimation software and results in all six FEMA Region I states,
• Provide training to our regional stakeholders to advance the level of analyses across the region, improve state hazard mitigation plans and aid in the efficient consumption of modeling results,
• Develop partnerships with regional and national research laboratories, universities, corporations, utilities, nonprofit organizations, government agencies (federal, state, local & tribal), and other interested parties,
• Use results generated from Hazus pilot projects for mitigation planning to meet the requirements of mandatory Disaster Mitigation Act (DMA) 2000 mitigation plan development,
• Organize the NEHUG to use Hazus and share results from scenario exercises and response situations, and
• Share project successes regionally, nationally and internationally.
