What We Do
The Rocky Mountain HAZUS User Group (RMHUG) has been established to support HAZUS users across the Rocky Mountain Region, including the states of Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Utah, Arizona and New Mexico. The RMHUG will help facilitate idea and resource sharing, specifically concerning the HAZUS-MH flood and earthquake models. Conference calls and meetings will be periodically held to create a forum for sharing successes, failures, technical issues and to form relationships and build a user community. Resources and important links will be available on the website including notices of upcoming training opportunities.
The RMHUG is informal and open to any interested parties, but suggested participants include local, state, and federal emergency management staff, GIS users or professionals, and other HAZUS practitioners.

The assistance was made available under a major disaster declaration issued April 4, 2020. FEMA has provided more than $963 million for the Colorado COVID-19 response to date.
The latest round of FEMA funding includes:

Rejuvenating the RMHUG
With the recent release of Hazus 4.0 and the first deployment of the Hazus Tsunami Model, Jeff and I would like to rejuvenate the Rocky Mountain Hazus User Group! Over the last year, there have been multiple updates and expansions to the Hazus tool, and we’d like to keep everyone informed on the latest versions. The RM HUG provides a platform to provide upcoming insights and a user community for questions and idea sharing. We hope you’re able to join on our next Rocky Mountain HUG conference call on Thursday, May 25th at 10:00 am Mountain.
Hazus 4.0 and Hazus Tsunami Model
The Tsunami Module represents the first new disaster module for the Hazus software in almost 15 years and is the culmination of work completed on the Hazus Tsunami Methodology Development (FEMA, 2013) by a team of tsunami experts, engineers, modelers, emergency planners, economists, social scientists, geographic information system (GIS) analysts, and software developers. A Tsunami Oversight Committee provided technical direction and review of the methodology development.
