Fact Sheet: FEMA Spells out Partner Responsibilities for MHU Occupants

Together, FEMA and Manufactured Housing Unit occupants continue to work towards finding permanent housing opportunities. MHUs serve as a temporary housing solution for eligible flood survivors. More than 3,300 households with over 10,000 survivors currently reside in MHUs. FEMA will support survivors in their continued need for temporary housing as long as they remain eligible. 

Eligibility requirements and regulations governing temporary housing assistance is stated in the Code of Federal Regulations.

Annual “Great Southeast Shakeout” Set for October 19

ATLANTA — The fifth annual Great Southeast ShakeOut earthquake drill will take place on October 19 at 10:19 a.m. across the southeast United States.

More than 1.3 million people will participate in this regional event, joining Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drills occurring throughout the nation and in several countries. More than 25 million people around the globe are expected to participate. In addition to safety drills, many participants take extra steps to become more prepared for earthquakes or other disasters.

FEMA Registration

Question: Can survivors register for FEMA assistance if they have insurance?
Answer:  Yes.

Survivors may be eligible for FEMA disaster aid for their uninsured and underinsured losses and damage.

Question: When survivors register do they immediately qualify and receive payments from FEMA?
Answer: No.

Unified Efforts Continue to Provide Meals to Communities

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico– In the next seven days, 20 million meals and more than 11 million liters of water are arriving on Puerto Rico.    

To date, FEMA, working in coordination with federal partners, provided more than 8 million meals, and 6 million liters of water to Puerto Rico.  At the direction of the government of Puerto Rico, FEMA and its partners deliver commodities to Regional Staging Areas (RSA) across the island, where mayors and local officials from municipalities can pick up food, water and other supplies.
