A Reminder to all CDMS Web Portal Participants
We are currently updating Essential Facilities and HAZUS inventory in the CDMS Web Portal! SCEMD is accepting any updated HAZUS data that local jurisdictions would like to incorporate in the CDMS Web Portal. Data collected last year has been imported into the Portal and is available to all participating counties. If you would like to incorporate additional data into the web portal, please contact .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
The CDMS Web Portal Project is a Success
South Carolina was the selected as the pilot state for the web-based Comprehensive Data Management System (CDMS) project. The CDMS web portal allows users to update HAZUS-MH data to improve loss estimation and risk assessment statewide. The South Carolina Emergency Management Division asked local emergency managers and GIS analysts to review and update the five essential facilities in HAZUS (fire stations, police stations, EOCs, medical care facilities, and schools). The data was then imported into the web portal for use in HAZUS analysis. After our second annual update, 80% of counties in South Carolina participated. Congratulations to the participating counties!
Want to Become a Member of the SCHUG?
The SCHUG is currently seeking members for the user group. If you are a GIS analyst or HAZUS user in South Carolina, this group is perfect for you! HAZUS is a great tool that can be used in all stages of the emergency management cycle. In addition, HAZUS data provides a plethora of information that can be incorporated into any GIS project. Please contact Melissa Berry if you would like to join the group or for more information.
Group participation will occur primarily though an email listserv as well as through the SCHUG website. As a member, we will be able to share our HAZUS experiences, CDMS Web Portal successes, and related projects with each other, as well as offer trouble-shooting advice for any problems that we may encounter. We are looking to make the SCHUG a diverse group of private and public sector professionals that are involved in all levels of government.
