HAZUS Comprehensive Data Management System Web Portal Training

FEMA and the Florida HAZUS User Group are conducting three, free training sessions on the Florida HAZUS-MH CDMS Web Portal. This will allow emergency managers and GIS managers to better build and share data for use with HAZUS.

The one-day training, led by Kevin Mickey, Polis Center, and Tom Durham, PBS&J, will take place in Tallahassee, Daytona Beach, and Ft. Lauderdale.

HAZUS for Disaster Operations Course Templates Available for Download

The templates are available for download via FTP at ftp://ftp.floridadisaster.org/HAZUS/TEMPLATES.zip.  To access the templates the username is FDEMPublicRead and the password is Re@donly96.

FLHUG and FEMA Region 4 Partner on Comprehensive Data Management Web Portal

The Florida HAZUS User Group, FEMA Region 4, and the Florida Division of Emergency Management are partnering on a project to implement a Comprehensive Data Management Web Portal for the State of Florida. This portal will enable better data to be available for use with HAZUS in the state.

HAZUS-MH Best Practices Features FLHUG

The state of Florida is a leader in the use of HAZUS-MH. Interest in HAZUS-MH took off after the 2004 hurricane season, when the model was used by FEMA and the Florida Division of Emergency Management (DEM) for hurricanes Charley, Jeanne, Frances and Ivan.

FLHUG Recognized at 2007 HAZUS National Conference

FLHUG received an Organization and Data Management award during the 2007 HAZUS-MH Annual User Conference.

The award was presented by Paul Wong and Eric Berman of FEMA Headquarters. Florida was recognized for innovative user group organization and data management practices related to cooperating to update GIS data used for mitigation and damage analysis. The award was accepted by Rick Burgess, President Florida HAZUS User Group. The conference was well attended by Florida organizations and individuals which was the inaugural HAZUS-MH Annual User Conference held in San Diego, California. The conference was held in conjunction with the 2007 ESRI International User Conference. More than 300 GIS professionals registered and attended this event including Jack Dangermond, President of ESRI who addressed the group during the closing ceremony.
